In this slow motion and stop frame analysis, we show Arnold Palmers alignment of his front spine angle during his downswing. Palmer was able to maintain proper alignment during his swing by initiating his downswing with his left knee and then rotating–not shifting–his hips. This rotation allowed him to keep his front spine angle close to vertical, which helped keep his clubface square at impact. By contrast, we show that Tiger Woods shifts his hips, which increases his front spine angle and opens his clubface — pushing his drives to the right.
