More Golf Swing Improvement

    1. sandwah9 Said,

if you have same distance with left leg only, and you say the less variance the better, as the swing is turning on the left axis point, then why swing with two legs normally?

    2. RoastinNY Said,

I can’t tell you how much this drill has changed my golf game. For years I had a decent iron game but could not keep a drive in bounds – pure 90 degree slice. Once I focused on the one leg drill, it forced me to stay behind the ball and allow the arms to swing around and allow a good release. Now I’m hitting drives pure and finding many fairways. Thanks, Shawn! BTW – the washing machine analogy is pure genius!

Hey Shawn, this is a great video. I’ve also seen your video on getting through the ball. I’ve tried implementing this at the range and it works great but the strange thing is it hasn’t carried over to when I use 2 legs. I make excellent contract through the ball on 1 leg but only 1/3 of the time do I make solid contact using both legs. I’m not sure if I’m just not getting through the ball or not bracing on my left side correctly. Too bad I can’t swing 1 legged all the time : D

@rstar88105 See my “golf pro lesson how to coordinate arm motion with body turn” video; then see “Golf Pro lesson play a shot” and “golf pro lesson the insanity of golf” video; Shawn

    7. clemshaw Said,

      @sandwah9 Because you don’t always have flat lies out there right? Uphill shots would be difficult too; see “golf pro lesson leverage uphill”, “golf pro lesson get more power and club speed”, and “golf pro lesson one leg and feet together update”;

I’m struggling at this.I had a lesson at the weekend and was told I should be more upright at swing finish i.e more balanced on my left side (front foot). The brace feels ok on my left foot when I’m chipping, when I go to both feet I get too steep at times and I struggle with the concept of both feet being plugged to the ground on per other videos. If the two feet swing should still feel like its on one foot, how does the ’suction-cup’ concept work? A little confused at the moment Shawn. Regards

    12. TAMMYWISEMAN Said,

Hey Shawn. When i try this drill im really being pulled out of balance and there is some left lower back/ hip pain?? Is this lack of flexibilty or lack of strength? Even if i use a smooth tempo its still hard to stay balanced.

    13. johnmcewan1953 Said,

Brilliant Shawn – my drives are flying 50 yds further (on one leg!). But how do I project this further to a normal stance?

    14. tomp9999 Said,

STACK AND TILT – Shawn: you’ve got best advice out there. Because of this video, deemphasizing right leg and your using the term “stacked” on a regular basis, some viewers have assumed that you espouse the Stack-and-tilt (SAT) philosophy. The left leg dominant posture/weight distribution would suggest it but Ive never heard you comment on this trend. Many have gotten quick but short-lived results w/ SAT. Can you comment? Thanks

I have just bought your dvd because of this video. I have a couple of questions, on which, I would like your opinion.
1 Is the natural golf swing a good option for a senior hi- handicapper? I bought it for interest purposes being an old Rockway member. (explain Kuchar’s swing? looks different)
2 Your inside the home drills for the coming Canadian winter months.

    18. clemshaw Said,

@benhog09 I do not advocate the natural swing as depicted by Natural golf at all; Moe did not swing like this at all and he always wondered why they did not listen to him; all they were interested in is selling off a profitable company and then it fell by the wayside…very disappointing because many were in that company to help but the owners would have nothing of it; I will have some drills coming soon in an off season video…Kuchar can play with any swing…:)

    19. thehappyroman1 Said,

Hi Shawn. I think I am finally getting the feeling of the arms falling during the downswing. When I am doing this drill and the feet together drill, one of the primary causes of my failure to maintain balance is over swinging with the arms and upper body using muscular force. If I try and swing hard with my arms, their forward momentum forces my body to move away from the target, and I lose balance. When my arms are passive, I am more easily able to keep the stacked feeling you describe.

    20. JAKEHARRIS281 Said,

@clemshaw What effect does a heavier driver swing weight have on the launch and spin? I have the winnline grip on my driver with 63g shaft and someone told me the swing weight was heavier. Is winnline grips not a good idea? I notice i’m hitting the ball ALOT on the heel. Do you think mabey the heavier swing weight is pushing the driver out, hence hitting the heel?

    21. clemshaw Said,

@JAKEHARRIS281 The thing about preoccupation with ball contact, is it makes you forget the target and makes you ball bound which causes heeled shots as you are swinging out towards the ball; do a couple practice swings letting the tip of the tee be in the way of you whipping out towards your target; then place the ball there and focus on the tip of the tee in the way of the target bound action again!
