      Hey Shawn I have been watching your videos for a while and have found them helpful. My question is if you have the body type of a Craig Stadler.Should I have a flat or upright swing plane?

    2. e003579 Said,

      Shawn – great videos and I’ve bought your DVD. Really good stuff, easily explained and not confusing. Does this information for lefties also pertain to Righties? I would assume yes. Keep up the great video and explanations. -Mark

      yet another great video clemshaw

    4. 1sippah Said,

      hi shawn, my problem is that i cant get the hook out of my shot, and i had some surgery on my right knee so basically i cant keep my right leg straight its always an inch or so behind my left leg so is there a way for me to correct my swing because trying to correct my stance really puts a strain on leg

    5. Stevexiled Said,

      Hi Shawn,
      I am a right handed backhander, and I feel that I start too fast by turning my shoulders and pulling my right arm through the ball. I find it hard to let my arms fall and catch them halfway down by planting the right foot, because of this slow start, feels like im left with hardly any time to create speed.
      Any tips?
      And do you always let the right elbow bend on the upswing?
      Great video and i wish there were more for backhanders!

    6. clemshaw Said,

      See “golf pro lesson swing plane” and “golf pro lesson perpetual motion drill” for this; sorry for the late reply man!

    7. clemshaw Said,

      Same for me; right knee open surgery 20 years ago…see the “golf pro lesson get more power and club speed” very important for de-stressing the knees; see also “golf pro lesson head bobbing” Shawn

    8. clemshaw Said,

      Very important question! See “golf pro lesson downswing weightshift” and “golf pro lesson 2008 golf swing review” part 2;
      You will see what I mean!

      Shawn,
      I have your DVD and I watched all your YouTube stuff – its all great. I feel like my biggest struggle, from a sequence/transition issue is the right hand. I’m a right-handed player and it often feels like I let my right hand become too dominate in the downswing, often causing me to hit behind the ball. Any tips would be appreciated.

    10. clemshaw Said,

      Yes, Kevin, of course! Sorry for the delay BTW;
      When this happens; ask yourself a very important question: Was your focus on the target and on letting the “effortless and powerful swat or whip” go in its direction? If not, what happens then is you DEFAULT to the ball and direct the energy there; the body stops getting out of the way because it is “ALREADY FACING” its target: THE DARN BALL! See a very important video I just loaded up called “Golf Pro lesson the insanity of golf” Shawn

    11. adamyoung158 Said,

      Hi shawn, i agree a lot with your hip theory. Jim mclean used a lot of bad science to come up with his theories and although statistically correct, the theory is fallable. Sure there should be a stretch in the core to create speed, but like you said with bubba watson, this should occur more halfway down in the swing

    12. h0tbox600 Said,

      Dear clem

      For me you can be as old school as you like. I found that this really helped my back swing and follow through. You are a really great instructor and one of the few who seems to realise that we are individuals and us 60 year olds have to make allowances for our bodies and that we have to compromise on what our bodies can achieve.

      thanks for your good work

      It doesn’t look like my last message got posted… I think watching you swing left makes more sense to because I’m left too. Thank you!

    14. clemshaw Said,

      @h0tbox600 Thanks Bill! Old school is the new school! Tom Watson and Bubba Watson are more than on to something! Shawn

    15. clemshaw Said,

      @molsondrive1970
      You will love the new series I have with a student; (9 part) it is called “golf pro lesson with Peter” who is also a lefty! Enjoy! And don’t forget my new 5 disc dvd series is out right now too; see my website for details and to see the trailer; Shawn

    16. molsondrive1970 Said,

      Why is it, other than the left hand swing, that you look so Phil Mickelson?? :-)

    17. molsondrive1970 Said,

      Aha, you look Phil Mickelson because of the turn and heel! :-)

    18. cockywatchman1976 Said,

      It’s interesting this X Factor vs Non X Factor debate. I love your videos they help a lot. But I must admit my pro has helped me a great deal by limiting my early hip turn. It feels like I really restrict it, but it still moves lots when I see it-it just stops me overswing, keeps me tighter and I know iget more power and accuracy-for sure. I agree no hip turn is not right, but I think calming it down is gonna help for many overswingers-it just makes my swing more controlled

    19. cockywatchman1976 Said,

      contd I know Bubba watson and Mickleson are superb players, but they are amazingly talented individuals, who don’t hit it straight. I mean Bubba doesn’t ever hit it straight. Id think for us amateur wannabes more conventional straight hitting swings are surely going to be better role models eg Luke Donald. I know I’ll get slaughtered but Im convinced restricting hip turn has been a significant part of my improvement. Maybe its because Im very flexible-I dont struggle to complete backswing ever

    20. devosooner Said,

      This “backhand” feel has been the best sensation for my swing. Ive looked at most of your videos and always come back to this video. I didnt realize why…but I swing right handed, and write with my left hand, so I think the left hand is dominate in my swing…It feels very natural. Thanks so much! Would you recommend any more vids for the backhander?

    21. steckleinjr Said,

      “the Nicklaus lift” if you will! is this only recommended for those who struggle with length of arc? i seem to lose my hub if I get my left heel too much off the ground and strive for more range of motion? i feel like this causes me to load too much on my right side, instead of achieving that “bounce” off the right like you recommend? I enjoy your concepts and your thoughts would be much appreciated!

    22. clemshaw Said,

      @cockywatchman1976 The reason why Phil has been hitting it more sideways with Butch IS BECAUSE BUTCH IS RESTRICTING HIS HIP TURN; what you don’t understand is that your overswing has everything to do with you USING THE ARMS AND PLACING THE ARMS IN THE BACKSWING instead of USING THE WEIGHT OF THE ARM-CLUB UNIT TO HIT THE SHOTS; see “golf pro lesson feel and let the hammer through” and “golf pro lesson feel your swing plane” Shawn

    23. clemshaw Said,

      @devosooner All my videos are for both the backhander and the forehander; especially the last 30 videos; if you go to my home page on you tube and work your way back 30 videos, you will get a ton! Even the hammer videos! Use your non dominant hand and you will feel the same and be able to understand what I am saying; it helps my backhand swing big time! Shawn

    24. clemshaw Said,

      @steckleinjr The front heel comes off as a result of a turn; you are not focused on making it lift, you are letting it lift; see a very important video called “golf pro lesson ridiculously easy” part 1 and 2 as well as my “golf pro lesson allow the arms to swing,” “golf pro lesson arm swing body turn”, “golf pro lesson stop crashing” and “golf pro lesson top view of swing” Shawn
